Coach Lytle’s Expectations for Swimmers on Meet Days
1. Wear your team tshirt to school and the meet.
2. Be on time for warm ups and your events- This means that you are lined up behind the block, cap and goggles on, and ready to get in the water at least 5 minutes before warm up/your event.
3. Be familiar with the order of events and pay attention to the meet – High school meets move quickly! You are your own personal clerk of course for high school meets and are responsible for knowing your event, heat and lane number. Entries will be posted in our team area and the current event number will be displayed on the scoreboard. Captains and our team manager will be there to help, but you will be held accountable if you miss an event.
4.Display good sportsmanship at all times – Shake hands with the swimmers in the lanes next to you and cheer for your teammates. If you disagree with a DQ, you are to speak to me first, and I will speak with the head referee if needed.
5.Talk to Coaches between events if possible – I make it a point to watch every race, and get times/splits for relays. If I am clearly focused on a race or trying to get a time, it is not a good time to ask me what event we’re on (see Expectation #2)
6.Swimmers are expected to stay for the entire meet.
7.All swimmers must check out with Coaches/Captains at the facility entrance before leaving with their parents.- Since all of our meets take place “off site”, I have to account for all swimmers before I can leave the pool.
8.Swimmers are only allowed to leave meets with adults (parents or parents of other swimmers). This is school policy.
